The theme: “A Valentines Gift for Each Day”

new-years-cluster-2021

2020 has been a year we will all remember. A Chicago friend who is a therapist wrote, “It has been an experience requiring much humility, reflection and gratitude.” Another friend wrote, “2020 has provided opportunities to learn that every single moment is valuable.” Gaby and Zyan, who are now co-creators for ABeautifulVoice.org – wrote that “2020 has shown humanity that love and health are the most precious things we have.” From my perspective, 2020 has been teaching us that how we care for mind-body-soul is vitally important to the well-being of ALL people and to mother earth. We are all connected.

Our small but mighty team has collaborated in a search for the gifts which follow. The collection is in keeping with the themes through-out the magazine – and with our new theme of “A Gift Each Day” for the person living with dementia and her care partners. As the new year reveals itself, you would be helping to create moments of joy!

 A Gift Each Day

When I was five years of age, I was quarantined for a number of weeks with scarlet fever along with another sister. Our Aunt Alta brought a large box with small gifts inside – each one gift-wrapped. We were both to open one each day. For us, that was the ultimate in royal treatment and something to look forward to during our long quarantine.

I can think of no more grateful recipients of this thoughtful idea than people living with dementia and their care partners who are frequently house-bound together for extended periods of time! A small gift-wrapped remembrance for each day – from December 1 through Christmas Day.

It’s an idea which would have created quite a lot of excitement at the ranch. Mother and Dad would have had great fun opening a “gift-each-day”! I can hear Mother’s lilting laughter and Dad’s quiet gratitude.

Perhaps the ideas which follow will help you get started on your list.
