“As part of her role as Artistic Advisor at Large to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Renée Fleming has spearheaded a collaboration with the National Institutes of Health. The Sound Health initiative, in association with the National Endowment for the Arts, explores and brings attention to research and practice at the intersection of music, health, and neuroscience. The first season aired this summer, and the second season picks up Tuesday, September 8.” –  From The Center for Life and Learning at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago

I am delighted to have received this good news from my church in Chicago and to share these transformational webinars with readers.

The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC with Rainbow Colors during Medium Blue Hour. Taken on December 8th, 2019.Hosted by Renee Fleming in her role as Artistic Advisor at The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the webinar series includes a subject which was a strong area of interest during my enrollment in doctoral studies: “Music, health and neuroscience.” In 2009, my first year of enrollment, we were just beginning to learn about the plasticity of the brain – and I was focusing on this very subject area.  My interest in this topic was based upon the transformational moments in music which I had experienced with Miss Ethel over the years.

This new series of webinars explores the powerful impact of music and arts on human health and the brain. Check out “season one” on the Kennedy Center’s website.
