“Facebook suspension” – What…?!
In late March, both my personal Facebook account and my ABeautifulVoice.org page were suspended without warning or meaningful explanation. After considerable research and consultation with experienced technology professionals, I learned that this type of abrupt suspension has happened to many others as well — often through automated systems that provide little opportunity for human dialogue or resolution. While I may never know exactly what triggered the action, the timing followed a period of significant website instability, repeated internet outages, and multiple international logins connected to efforts to restore and secure my website.
Over the years, Facebook allowed me to stay connected with friends, former colleagues, and communities spanning many chapters of my life. While I continued seeing the repetitive message from Facebook: “Create a new account,” I questioned why I would want a new account under these circumstances. But I would, of course, readily take back my old account containing historical events never to be recaptured, celebrations of milestones achieved, but most importantly, the awesome friendships nurtured following each amazing rest stop on the journey.
Moving forward
For now, I am moving forward in a different direction. Much of my work and writing is continuing through ABeautifulVoice.org and increasingly through more purpose-driven professional communities focused on caregiving, dementia advocacy, and cultural change. If our connection has been interrupted, please know the departure was abrupt and unintended. And to those who have continued to follow the work with your thoughtful feedback and encouragement — I thank you. ![]()
